Responsible for the overall financial affairs of the company which included significant involvement in the development of ITN’s strategic plans as well as the day to day operation of the finance department with a staff of around 40 people.
Main achievements include:
- Finance seen as a real partner in editorial and commercial decision making
- Significant decrease in cost base
- Increased profitability of commercial contracts
- Re-organisation and refocusing of finance department to offer improved customer service
- Preparation of organisation for the effects of the 1990 Broadcasting Act which included competitive application for franchise to broadcast news
- Negotiation of longer term contract for C4 News
- Assistance in winning contract for C4 Breakfast
